About the EU4Business project

With goal of strengthening BiH economy, EU’s  EU4Business project supports development of enterprising, exporting oriented sectors of tourism, agriculture as rural development as well. EU4Business is worth EUR 16.1 million. It is jointly funded by the European Union (EUR 15 million) and the Federal Republic of Germany (EUR 1.1 million). The project is jointly implemented by GIZ, UNDP and ILO, from April 2018 to March 2022.

The specific goal of this project is to valorise the cultural and natural heritage of BiH and improve the scope, quality and visibility of tourism in BiH through the establishment of the first VR (Virtual Reality) Education Centre in this part of Europe. The total value of the project is 547,993.00 KM. The project is being implemented from June 2020 to the end of 2021.

The project partners are: NP “Sutjeska” (leading partner), Faculty of Forestry, University of Banja Luka and the company Matriks doo, and is implemented in the National Park “Sutjeska” with special attention to the strict nature reserve – Perucica rainforest located on UNESCO tentative list. The project also helps B&H companies conduct management capacity assessments for innovation, as well as learn how to use available EU funds to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SME Instrument).

The project “Virtual Reality in Perućica” has encouraged the tourist development of the protected area in an innovative way, responding to all the new needs of the digital age, but respecting the protection of the environment. The results of this project NPS will provide new experience for visitors to explore and experience the area through the ICT solution of the Centre for Virtual Reality (VRC), which is multidimensional. As of 21st of December 2021, the VRC in the NPS, as one of the first in the countries of the Western Balkans, will be used for touristic and promotional, but also for educational purposes, which will directly raise awareness of the importance of protecting the natural habitat of this area.

By implementing the Virtual Reality inside Perucica project, project partners intend to enable MMSE from the touristic sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina to promote their touristic offer through the NPS’s web site and to enrich their offer as well. There are 15 new touristic arrangements developed, as well as 5 educational programs and 3 VR programs that MMSE can use for preparation of their own offers. There are more than 10 MoU signed with touristic agencies from BiH that will incorporate Sutjeska NP’s offer and newly developed arrangements and programs into their promotion and sale. Our partners with whom the MoU and contracts are signed will be presented on VRC website, as well as other MMSE from BiH, especially from the three surrounding municipalities Foča, Kalinovik and Gacko, since their touristic offer relies on Sutjeska NP.

The project is implemented by the NP “Sutjeska” (leading partner), Faculty of Forestry, University of Banja Luka (partner 1) and the company “Matrix” doo, Pale, (partner 2).
